Amendment 64 ( A64 ) passed in November 2012, outlining a new drug policy to set up retail marijuana sales to all adults over 21.
 
Opening a medical marijuana dispensary or becoming a cultivation facility producer is initiated through an application process at the Colorado Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division.
 
As of May 1, 2017, the number of Licensed Medical Marijuana Businesses in Colorado includes 520 centers, 776 cultivations, 250 infused product manufacturers and 14 testing facilities. The number of Licensed Retail Marijuana Businesses includes 479 stores, 667 cultivations, 257 product manufacturers and 13 testing facilities.
